The most recent update for AutoCAD 2019 included updates and bug fixes, such as:
- Arcs and circles within dynamic blocks display correctly at large coordinates
- The Unisolate operation on layers is faster
- Xref highlight works when using the arrow keys to select the Xref from within the External References palette
- Object selection completes when the mouse is still moving

The most recent update for InfraWorks 2019 included updates and bug fixes, such as:
- The Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS has graduated from preview status with additional improvements and performance enhancements
- You can now store and manage data sources for an InfraWorks model with the Desktop Connector
- Enhanced surface layer order adjustment by dragging and dropping
- You can now lock an InfraWorks model from BIM 360 Document Management. This will prevent unwanted syncing to an InfraWorks model

- Two individual installations for Autodesk Civil 3D and Autodesk Revit.
- Export coordinates and elevation from Autodesk Civil 3D to external .xml file
- Import .xml into Autodesk Revit based on same known positions and create a ‘Shared Coordinate System’

InfraWorks Update Focuses on Bridges and Software Workflow
From Engineering.com: “Autodesk’s most recent InfraWorks update focused on integration with Esri’s ArcGIS, as the result of an alliance between the two companies that began in November 2017. The companies hope to unite the power of building information modeling and geographic information systems by building complex structures on a sturdy data foundation. In this update, the connector between the two platforms is out of preview mode. Users can preview their selections and build up several selections from multiple layers before importing ArcGIS data into InfraWorks, where the data can be added to existing or new projects. There’s also a live and refreshable connection from InfraWorks to ArcGIS, meaning that users can use field applications without losing their connections.”

Drones Will Track One fo the Largest Dam Removals on the East Coast
From Smithsonian.com: “This month, the Bloede Dam will be removed from the Lower Patapsco River near Ilchester, Maryland. The restoration is a one-of-a-kind natural experiment that will help test how relatively inexpensive drones can help scientists like me understand the integrity of streams and rivers. My collaborators include students and researchers from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, Maryland Geological Survey, Maryland Department of Natural Resources, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and U.S. Geological Survey. If our approach works, it will allow us to track sediment movement more completely and accurately than ever before, at a fraction of the expense.”

Washington's First Diverging Diamond INterchange Coming
From ENR: “The first-ever diverging diamond Interchange for Washington state enters the construction phase this year at the interchange between Interstate 5 and State Route 510 in Lacey, south of Tacoma. Construction on the $72 million project is scheduled to start this fall, with completion in 2020. The project is currently out for bid, with an expected bid opening of Aug. 22. The existing interchange will undergo the complete overhaul to accommodate economic development for the Hawks Prairie community and expand on traffic improvements already in place.”

In America alone, the amount of building-related waste is estimated to be more than $160 billion, reports Fortune, and solving this kind of inefficiency is one of the reasons why more and more construction companies are turning to drones.”
