Finish Strong Friday: Rehab Corridor Part 4 – Lane Offsets and Targets
From Civil Immersion: "For Part 4, we will take a look at controlling the window of interest that the tool uses to compute the existing ground cross slope. This window of interest will match the dimensions of the lane by default-but we can use a setting that allows these to be different."

Repairing an InfraWorks Model by Deleting the TileCache
From Jeff Bartels: "If you have an InfraWorks model that is no longer working as expected, you might want to try deleting the contents of the TileCache folder. The TIleCache folder holds the “processing information” for each data source attached to a model. If the TileCache gets “out of synch” with a model, the model may start acting irrationally. In this session we’ll look at how recreating the TileCache can help repair a corrupt InfraWorks model. Please note that this technique is not meant to solve all InfraWorks model problems!"

From Civil Immersion: "Civil 3D provides many tools to create profiles. Most of which involve creating it geometrically and/or using numeric values. Using the CreateProfileFromFile tool allows us to create the profile from values saved in an ASCII file."

Infrastructure Tuesday
Join my colleague Jonathan Urizar next Tuesday, March 6th to learn all using shared coordinates in Revit and Civil 3D.
Every Revit project has internal coordinates for the elements contained in the model, but those coordinates are only applicable to that specific model. The ability to create shared coordinate base points between Revit and Civil 3D used to be a subscription-based add-on, but starting last year, it was built right into the software by default. If you spend any time collaborating on projects with Revit users, make sure to register for the webinar.
If you can’t make it, you can still register, and we’ll send you the recording after!

InfraWorks Slam
How do you design Las Vegas on Mars in 15 minutes? Three InfraWorks superstars will explain how they did it during the InfraWorks Design Slam Postgame show, the follow-up to the InfraWorks Slam at Autodesk University. They’ll share secrets about how they prepared, what went through their minds before and during the competition, tricks they used to attempt to beat the competition, and how they managed to design a small city on another planet in mere minutes.
Topics include:
- Preparing content for the Mars model
- Getting the most design done in a short time
- Effective presentations with InfraWorks
- Contestant question and answer
