Major update and game changer for Civil 3D Users!!!

If you have been on the fence about BIM 360 Collaboration for Civil 3D, Autodesk has fixed the top two issues, but only for the 2021 version for now.

Autodesk Collaboration for Civil 3D (What's New in 2021.1)

Support has been added for reference templates and sheet set data files.

  • Reference templates are now uploaded and downloaded when you upload or download drawings that reference them. The paths to the reference templates are maintained when the reference templates are uploaded, downloaded, or moved within BIM 360.
  • Support has been added for sheet set data (DST) files.
  • Uploading a DST file will upload the related drawings in the sheet set.
  • Opening a DST file from BIM 360 will sync the related drawings.
  • Drawings in a sheet set that are opened from the Sheet Set Manager are automatically locked when opened, and unlocked when closed.
  • Locking support for DST files is now provided. You can use a system variable named EnableDSTLock to enable this support.

The EnableDSTLock system variable is set to 0 (turned off) by default. When the EnableDSTLock is set to 1 (turned on), sheet set data (DST) files will be automatically locked when they are opened from BIM 360, and unlocked when closed. For more information, see About Locking Documents Stored in BIM 360.

Important: The EnableDSTLock system variable is set to 0 (turned off) by default. If you do not enable automatic DST locking, you must manually lock the DST file before opening it from BIM 360 to avoid editing conflicts.
  • Drawing previews can now be displayed on the Recent and BIM 360 tabs of the Start page. Click the tiles icon to display the drawing preview images:
